Accessing targeted services

Accessing Targeted Services Step-by-step A Sudanese single mother of three cares full time for her teenage daughter with cerebral palsy.

Her social worker suggests that she take advantage of in-home respite care.

The social worker places the girl on the Wait List used by local disability service providers. Her mother would prefer to receive help from a Sudanese person, for both language and cultural reasons. This is noted in her record.

The social worker also uses Wait List's 'preferred provider' option to make the case accessible only to a specialist agency working with the Sudanese community.

The agency receives notification that a client is waiting specifically for their services, and accepts the case.
